So I got a job, which I am incredibly grateful for and excited about! It's a case management job, which means that HIPA requirements are very strict and I need to make sure I protect the confidentiality of my clients. However, a lot of the records that get sent to the case managers are either typed or handwritten print copies of forms, making them difficult to read independently. I could hire an assitant, but I'd rather not since I'd probably have to pay for it since Voc rehab is less than helpful, or I could try to use a scanner but my boss is worried that the files will be saved somewhere and therefore be in violation of the confidentiality protections. What would yall recommend? I'm weighing mu options at this point before I make a purchase or do whatever i need to do to be successful.
I don't really have any answers but scanning hand written things won't work. Some one will have to type thatpartup for you. I would see about getting an assistant part time and then seeing if your work will pay for it. It would only have to be part time wouldn't it? I believe they have to let you accomendate things don't they? And stuff is on computer now days so I don't think they can say there is a safety issue.
Can you get a personal scanner and software that's on your work computer? Then the documents can be on your computer or departmental server, whichever is best. Handwritten material will be a challenge.
Yeah perhaps the part-time assistant is what's best, I have a really hard time believing that work will pay for it though, it's a nonprofit and they've only hired me part-time anyway...
My braille sense reads pdf's really well, and my prizmo app for mac does too. But the issue is that I can't use personal devices, so all of the stuff I use for school I technically shouldn't be using..
Thank you all for your advice though. I'll talk to them about hiring a part-time assistant that I can find. Have any of you had to pay out of pocket for that kind of thing in order to keep your job?
